GELBVIEH / BALANCER

GELBVIEH / BALANCER

GELBVIEH

CATTLE INDUSTRIES BEST KEPT  SECRET

Gelbvieh commenced in 1989 with an A.I. program over commercial cattle using German sires, Herkules and Horst. Purebred females were subsequently purchased and the stud produced its first purebred cattle in 1991. The herd was based on Polled Summit bloodlines with our original herd sire, a Summit E.T. bull bred by Judd Ranch, producing many show champions and leaving us the basis of what our herd is today.

Gelbvieh cattle today still impress, the breed has evolved into a more moderate Euro breed, more acceptable in today's market. With moderation has come lower birth weights, earlier maturity patterns and an ability to focus on carcass merits. Continued use of black genetics has seen our raw marbling data rise considerably, fat levels increase and a bull that readily fits into an Angus program to increase hybrid vigor whilst still producing a product that readily fits into the feedlot marketplace.

The Current herd sire is the Bennett E158, a homo black calf bred by KCF ranch in Virginia.

BALANCER (ANGUS X GELBVIEH)

Balancer cattle have been a natural progression of our programs. Our bull buying clients have requested we produce a sire they can use to breed 25% Euro calves in their angus herds. Calving ease has been sensational, and growth and carcass has met breeder expectations. A breeder told me after trialing Balancer calves against straight bred angus he could not afford, not to breed balancers.

The Balancer, now a registered breed in Australia is a simple uncomplicated breeding program. Gelbvieh to Angus, Angus to Gelbvieh or Balancer to Balancer. Our Balancer females are now also registered with the Angus multi breed register in our quest for better data.

We, at Excel have combined the best Angus and Gelbvieh have to offer into one of the most complete packages the cattle industry has to offer.
